As the group is recently suffering from serious financial crisis across its territories in Syria and Iraq, the ISIS has decided to slash the salaries by half.
A newly-leaked ISIS document shows that the terrorist group cut 50% of its fighters’ monthly salaries as the US-led coalition has recently increased airstrikes against ISIS-held oil fields and other financial sources feeding the group.
"On account of the exceptional circumstances the ISIS is facing, it has been decided to reduce the salaries that are paid to all militants by half," reads the ISIS statement. "It is not allowed for anyone to be exempted from this decision, whatever his position."
According to the leaked information, instead of $400, each militants will now receive $200 which will be paid twice a week.
Analysts believe that the decision by ISIS is proving that the coalition airstrikes against their financial sources have effectively faced the terrorist group with serious financial crisis.
US officials recently confirmed that they have targeted an ISIS cash facility in Mosul, Northern Iraq, that contained “tens of millions of dollars” in hard currency.
"Combined with all of the other strikes that we've done on ISIL's gas and oil production and distribution capabilities and strikes against his economic infrastructure and the various sources of revenue, you can bet that [it] is feeling the strain on [its] checkbook," Gen. Lloyd Austin, the head of U.S. Central Command, told reporters last week.
ISIS has started selling properties left by Christians in Mosul to fund its military and administrative activities.
